A specific viral respiratory disease characterized by fever, cold symptoms, cough, headache, malaise, and inflamed respiratory mucous membranes.

TRANSMISSION
Person to person and airborne droplets.

DISTRIBUTION
Pandemic in the fall and winter. WHO has an Influenza surveillance page on the World Wide Web. Up-to-date information by country is available. the continent.

INCIDENCE
Yearly epidemics.

TREATMENT
Supportive, anti viral medications.

VACCINATION
Vaccination may be of some use for specific groups. Vaccines change every year. WHO recommends vaccine types every year.
