  The present document provides a brief description of the 105 Best Practices as determined by an independent Technical Advisory Committee. These best practices have been selected from over 600 submissions from 95 countries, national committees for Habitat II, regional and international organisations. Those which do not appear here are being disseminated as "good practices", a large number of which appear in the Best Practices Database which is accessible via the Internet, on CD- ROM, and on computer diskette. An annotated bibliography of best and good practices is also available in English. Submissions which do not appear in these products, either by omission or by late and/or incomplete submission, will be incorporated in future editions and updates. Owing to restrictions on document length, this bibliography has been severely edited. Any inaccuracies should be brought to the attention of the Secretariat for subsequent corrigenda. The top 105 Best Practices as chosen by the Technical Advisory Committee in Rotterdam, March 1996. The best practices are presented by category, and within each category, by region and by country in alphabetical order.
