Support the Optional Protocol
Find out if your government has ratified the Optional Protocol to the
Convention on the Rights of the Child on involvement of children
in armed conflict.
Background
On 25 May 2000, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the
Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on
involvement of children in armed conflict. This Protocol raises
the minimum age for participation in armed conflict from 15 to 18. NOTE: Governments that ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child
are not required to also sign the Optional Protocol; it is "optional."
