Finance and Trade Advisors

As Finance and Trade Advisors, you’re concerned with how best to increase economic growth so that more jobs will be created. As a part of that concern, you want to make sure that the natural resources found in your country are not illegally exploited by rebel groups to fund armed conflict. Finally, you're concerned with how the government allocates its funds to best serve its people.

Before developing a policy for child soldiers, your group needs to:

• Review the following sections of The Paris Principles : 1.8, 5.0, 6.22.2, 6.29, 7.33-35, 7.41.1,
7.82-84.

• (Optional) Read the Millennium Project’s report the UN Secretary-General “Investing in Development: A Practical Plan to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals.”

Use the information from this resource to fill out the following form and use it while presenting your policy recommendation to the Legislative Assembly.

As you develop your policy, remember that your task as Finance and Trade Advisors is to formulate finance and trade policies in the country you are representing to answer the question:
