step four: researching why child soldiers are used

Host a Talk Show

Hold a TV talk show focusing on "What are the social, geographical, historical, and other factors that lead to child soldiers in _(fill in the name of the country you studied)"?

Your teacher or class should select someone to "host" the show and a number of "guests" who will be interviewed by the host.  The guests will have to discuss the different factors that have contributed to the use of child soldiers in the country you are studying.  The rest of the class is the “audience," and will be able to ask questions of the guest experts, when asked to do so by the host.

Roles:
The "host" should try to bring out as many different factors as possible.  She/he should also engage the guests in a debate as to which factor is the primary cause of the use of child soldiers in the country you are studying.

“Guests” can pretend to be scholars or academics, teachers, ordinary people, child soldiers, or others from the country.

NOTE: The purpose of this activity is to give all students a chance to share what they have learned so far.
