    step one: setting age limits

Age and Gender Requirements for Military Tasks

You just looked at age limits for various activities in your own society. Now it’s time to decide how old you think someone needs to be to perform specific military tasks. Your thoughts about why age limits are set, and why they vary, should help guide you while you fill out the military activities age chart.

activity

Instructions: In the questionnaire that follows, check off whether a male, female (or both), should be allowed to do the following military tasks--and if so, at what age. All options and opinions are valid. If you feel that some or none of these tasks are appropriate for any person at any age, then simply put “No Age” in the appropriate box.

While you fill in the questionnaire, keep in mind that in many countries around the world, there is often a difference in the age at which the government can require a person to serve in the armed forces and the age a person can volunteer for military duty. Usually the compulsory recruitment age is higher. In this activity it is up to you to decide.

You will need your responses to this questionnaire in order to complete the activity in Step 2, so don't forget to print the questionnaire after it is filled in.
