    step one: setting age limits

Age Limitations Questionnaire

Overview

The first step on this WebQuest is to explore the issue of age limits. This step is split into two parts. You start by answering the following question: What age limits does your society place on various activities? Then you apply what you have learned to answering a critical question for this WebQuest:

At what age should people be allowed to serve in the military?

Instructions: Each society sets age limits on the different things that it allows people to do. For example, someone may be allowed to drive a car at age 16, but can't legally drink alcohol until age 21. What are the age limits for the following activities where you live? As you fill in the questionnaire, think about why society sets age limits at all. Why do you think that age limits vary from one activity to another?
